Director of Finance

Job Overview

Tired Hands Brewing Company is looking for a Certified Public Accountant to integrate into our Director of Finance role. This position oversees financial practices, prepares financial reports, analyzes all accounting data, prepares budgets, and advises management on financial strategies. This is a management-level position that oversees financial staff. 

The Director of Finance reports directly to the ownership, and directly assists the heads of each department on strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, pricing, and the securing of new funding. 


  • Manage all accounting operations based on current accounting standards.

  • Prepare financial statements as needed for management.

  • Conduct and accurate and timely month-end and year-end close process.

  • Ability to maintain accurate G/L and cost center entries in order to prepare all G/L account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Inspect accounting systems and integrations to ensure they are functioning properly.

  • Manage, supervise, train and oversee staff responsible for bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing and payroll. 

  • Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets.

  • Directs physical inventory process and audits values and quantities of inventory in conformance with company inventory cycles.

  • Work with ownership and outside accounting firm to compile information related to and prepare the corporate tax returns, sales tax, excise tax, payroll taxes, etc.

  • Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts in relation to financials. Meet with department heads to develop and analyze.

  • Make recommendations and identify strategies to improve businesses efficiency.

  • Make best-practices recommendations and procedures to management as well as implementation of those systems

  • Monitor cash flows and mange in order to meet the business’ needs.

  • Manage and analyze expenses of employees via expense management system for company credit card and reimbursements

  • Investigate cost-effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the organization may offer employees and potential employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified individuals.

  • Keep up with relevant accounting standards as well as regulation and legislation.

  • Oversee and interact with representatives for business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.

  • Oversee 401(k) submittal and plan review with the plan advisor.

  • Develop and implement loss-prevention strategies for the restaurants, retail, and production facilities.

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for the staff.

  • Develop appropriate responses to regulatory agencies and other outside entities to financial inquiries, along with outside accounting firm and General Counsel.


  • Degree in Accounting and current CPA licensed in Pennsylvania.

  • Experience as a controller in a company with 50+ employees a plus, but not required.

  • Thorough knowledge of accrual accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures.

  • Excellent accounting software user, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office proficiency.

  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Strong written and oral communication and management skills.

  • Ability and willingness to treat others with dignity, respect and kindness.
