Beer for a cause in Philadelphia
The Tired Hands team has crafted two new brews, Abbott Road and TransMissions, for our annual Charity Brews initiative. Each year, our team conceptualizes brand new Philadelphia charity beers and donates the sales to organizations that are personally meaningful to us. ABBOTt ROAD
Abbott Road is a new New England / Hazy IPA developed by Tedge Lee and the Dudley Direct team, Tired Hands’ delivery system. Proceeds from sales will benefit the Southern California Food Allergy Institute in Long Beach, California, an organization that treats pediatric patients with severe food allergies.
Abbott Road is brewed with Malted Oats and hopped with Mandarina Bavaria. The new beer is conditioned on orange, lime and cranberry puree, and sage. The brew is then dry-hopped with Tired Hands’ beers, Galaxy and Simcoe, and then double dry-hopped with their Nelson and Motueka beers. The team describes the brew as possessing notes of “Blackcurrant Cosmopolitan, Bay Breeze, key lime pie, mimosas, and tangelo.”
TRANSMISSIONS
TransMissions began as a home-brew recipe concocted over the years by Josslyn, a member of Tired Hands’ packaging team. The recipe combined two of her favorite styles — American IPA and Belgian Tripel — to produce a best-of-both-worlds 9.2% powerhouse.
The team describes the beer as possessing notes of “Orange blossom honey, fluffy cotton candy, rock candy, those first few chews of bubblegum, old-timey circus peanut candies, and cooked pineapple” that give a “pillowy, warming, and ridiculously crushable” flavor combination.
A portion of the proceeds of TransMissions will be going toward Trans Lifeline (@translifeline), which connects trans people to necessary community support and resources. The organization is run by and for the trans community.
